Method. Figures are taken from the pay ratio disclosure each company files in its annual proxy statement (SEC Form DEF 14A), where the CEO's annual total compensation, the median employee's, and the ratio between them are stated together. Nothing here is estimated or adjusted. Where a company's stated ratio does not reconcile with its own two figures, the filing is held back rather than published. Every row links to the filing.
